At the onset of the Civil War, seven young Texans hope to join up with General Hood’s Confederate forces. Calling themselves the Concho County Comanches, the eager cowboys embark on a long and arduous journey eastward and encounter class prejudice and mounting danger along the way. They end up at the bloody Battle of Shiloh, where their courage is tested beyond their wildest expectations. The fresh-faced Wild Bunch are played by James Caan (Misery), Michael Sarrazin (They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?), Paul Petersen (Houseboat), Don Stroud (Joe Kidd), Michael Burns (Stranger on the Run), Jan-Michael Vincent (Defiance) and Harrison Ford (Force 10 from Navarone) in one of his earliest roles. Brenda Scott (Simon, King of the Witches), John Doucette (One More Train to Rob), Noah Beery (Wings of the Hawk), Tisha Sterling (Coogan’s Bluff), James Gammon (The Milagro Beanfield War), Rex Ingram (Anna Lucasta) and Albert Popwell (Charley Varrick) round out the cast of this rousing western from director William Hale (S.O.S. Titanic) and novelist Heck Allen a.k.a. Will Henry (Young Billy Young).
